Coin Crafting: From Furnace Bar to Stamped Coin
Crafting chain: chop logs → melt a bar in the furnace → feed the bar to the cutter for sheets → punch blanks from the sheet with the coin punch and a template → stamp the crown → deliver. Silver needs a water quench before it can be worked.
Once you own a coin punch, the demo stops being a stamping chore and becomes a small production line. Here's the whole chain as the September 2026 build actually plays it, step by step.
The production chain at a glance
| Step | Station | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Firewood | Loose logs + axe | Press and hold to chop — timing matters, the swing has to land on the mark |
| 2. Melt | Furnace | Feed it a bar, start it, wait out the timer |
| 3. Plate | Furnace output | Pull the hot plate out with tongs |
| 4. Punch blanks | Coin punch + template | Cut your own coins from the plate |
| 5. Stamp | Hand stamp | Crown mark — the finishing step on every coin |
| 6. Deliver | Order board → door | Hand in, bank the surplus in the chest |
Step 1–2: logs into the furnace
The axe is described in-game as a tool for breaking at the furnace's fuel — use the axe to get logs, then add them to the furnace. Chopping is a hold-to-swing action with a timing line: hit it right and the log splits, miss and nothing happens. Wood isn't free-form — some melts burn through more logs than others, so keep a stack beside the furnace.
Add the bar to the furnace (right-click to toss it in), hit start, and a timer runs. You can keep working while it ticks; come back when it's done.
Step 3: tongs for the hot metal
Never grab hot metal bare-handed — the tongs exist for a reason, and the community has a whole thread titled "Cold ingots and tongs" about exactly this friction. Pull the result out, and you'll have a plate/sheet ready for punching.
Plates come in different sizes, so check the blanks available before starting the next order. Do not try to merge all your bars in the demo: the developer's September 29 answer says combined melting is not available there. A discussion asking for it is a request, not an unlocked production step.
Step 4: the coin punch
The guard sells it as "one of the most essential tools for making coins" — he's not exaggerating. The routine:
- Add a template to the punch — templates determine what you cut.
- Feed a plate in. A six-blank plate yields six blanks; bigger plates yield more (players report runs of nine and eleven from larger sheets).
- Blanks fly out of the cutter — the machine has a distance setting (short / medium / long) that changes how far they shoot, so tune it to wherever you've decided "finished" piles live.
Step 5–6: stamp and deliver
Every blank still needs the crown stamp — stamping is usually the final step in completing a coin. Miss one and you've essentially shipped an unfinished product: the board counts coins, but you'll see the unstamped one sitting there. Build the habit: punch a batch → stamp the whole batch → deliver → chest the surplus.
Hand capacity starts at 10 coins and can be raised — see collectible coins for the ability coin that lifts it to 15, and demo tips for the delivery habits that keep the line moving.
Chisels are not part of this chain yet. They are guard-shop stock rather than a station step, and the recorded demo never shows one doing anything — so everything the sources actually contain is collected with the shop page: what the demo shows about chisels.
Empty templates and excess bars in Endless Mode
The September 29 developer FAQ explains that Endless Mode exceeds the demo's original balance. Empty templates accumulate because their later reuse/scrap mechanic belongs to the full game. Keep them separate from fresh templates and do not expect repeated furnace interactions to recycle them now. Combined bar melting is also unavailable in this demo.
For the next order, work with the current chain above: melt the required bar, remove the plate with tongs, load a usable template, punch and stamp the blanks, then deliver. Make only the batch you can finish and organize before opening another order. This is a workflow recommendation, not a hidden item-deletion recipe; the developer had not promised a disposal feature.
