King's Favor and the Guard's Shop
King's favor is earned by completing orders and spent at the guard's shop on tools, workstations and decorations. Prices escalate: the guard warns that each new favor costs more than the last, so buy purposefully instead of grabbing everything.
Coins buy your freedom, but king's favor buys your upgrades. It's the demo's second currency, earned by working and spent at the guard's shop — and it has one quirk that changes how you should spend it.
How favor works
- Earn: complete orders for the king. The guard frames it as the king granting favors to a worker who keeps proving himself: "Do enough, the king will grant you what you need."
- Spend: at the guard's shop — talk to him at the door and open "I need something."
- Escalate: the guard warns you up front: "Each new favor will cost you more. The more I take, the more it will cost." Prices ratchet upward as you claim favors, so there's a real opportunity cost to buying everything you can afford.
What the shop stocks in the demo
| Item | What it does | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Table & chair | Your first real workstation; table cloth/color can be changed | Buy immediately — stops the floor-stamping |
| Coin punch | Cuts blanks from plates using templates | The single most important purchase |
| Axe & tongs | Chopping logs; handling hot metal at the furnace | Required before the furnace loop works |
| Second order board | Lets you hold two orders at once | Throughput doubler — high priority |
| Light / torch | Keeps the cell lit | Comfort buy; the dungeon can get dark |
| Tool holders (axe, log, broom) | Gets tools off the floor and into assigned spots | Great for clutter once you have spare favor |
| Supply pallet | Stores items in one place and stacks them neatly | Best anti-clutter buy in the shop |
| Barrel | Part of the silver crafting line | Needed before silver work expands |
| Piggy bank | Deposit coins; smashing it gives each coin a chance to duplicate | See collectible coins |
| Chisels, extra tables, carpet, signs | Gameplay-adjacent and decoration stock | Some pieces are labeled "available in full game" |
Chisels: what the demo actually shows
Players look up chisels by name, so here is everything the sources behind this site actually contain — and the parts that stay open.
- Where they come from: chisels are guard-shop stock, paid for in favor like the rest of the shelf. Some pieces in that stock carry the shop's "available in full game" label, which the demo uses for items it will not sell yet.
- What the footage shows: in the recorded demo playthrough, a player spots the item at the 18-minute mark, asks "Is that a chisel?", and follows it up with "Can we chisel our way out of here?" The escape idea is the player's own reaction — the same footage never shows a chisel cutting into anything.
- What the game itself says about escaping: the official store text points somewhere else: you are locked in the dungeon and "making coins is your only way to freedom", with the guards bribed for new workstations and tools. No source in this pack puts a chisel on that route.
- The player discussion: a Steam thread titled simply "chisel" (September 22, 2026) exists, and it carries no captured reply — so it reads as a question players are asking rather than an answer anyone has posted.
Check it in your own build: open the chisel entry in the guard's shop and read its label. "Available in full game" is the demo's own way of saying an item's real use arrives with the March 2027 release.
The demo's "full game" wall
Several stock items — including parts of the silver tool line — display "available in full game" and can't be bought in the demo. That's your signal the March 2027 release expands this shop substantially; the developers' end-of-demo message promises "more tools, workstations, resources, collectible coins, decorations, mechanics, and secrets."
Spending order that makes sense
- Coin punch + axe & tongs — unlocks self-sufficient crafting.
- Second order board — running two orders at once is the biggest efficiency jump available.
- Supply pallet + holders — a tidy cell is a fast cell (and mess blocks orders, per the basics guide).
- Piggy bank — only once you have a coin surplus to feed it.
- Everything else — decoration and convenience; buy when prices still feel cheap.
Favor prices climb with every claim, so the early buys above are the ones you'll be happiest front-loading.
